Adventure Riders Challenge
May 14th – 17th, 2009
A year of change!
Brought to you by:
BMW Motorrad and XPLOR

Welcome to the 2009 Adventure Riders Challenge. The A.R.C. is North Americas most exciting “Adventure Event.” This is RawHyde’s 3rd year to host the challenge and we are pleased to announce that we have completely revised this years event. It’s operating with an all new format and we’re very excited about it.
There is so much to tell you - the 2009 challenge will be dramatically different than the past two years. How so? Well- the 2007 and 2008 events “were competitive”… and this year it’s not. This year’s “challenge” is about the “ride” – Two of the best rides in the State of California await you and the “Challenge” is the completion of these two mandatory rides. We are calling the rides "Of Oceans and Dirt." The reason for the name is simple, You will take a ride along a mountain range with a wonderful view of the Pacific Ocean and then you will head out into the Mojave Desert. 2 days, 2 rides, 500 miles… mostly dirt, all beautiful and great fun.

However, if you enjoyed the past “Challenges” because of the competition, don’t worry… there will be plenty of opportunity to test yourself against your fellow adventurers; but there is change to this aspect of the event as well. The 2009 competition has not one but two elements and we are referring to this part of the event as “The Rodeo” – If you want to enter the Rodeo your goal will be to come out on top as the best rider AND to be part of the winning “team” as well.
Just to make it fun, we have named the rodeo “The Pit and the Pendulums.”
We decided to have a little fun with the name of the event this year, and we are celebrating the 200th anniversary of Edgar Allen Poe’s birth by titling it after one of his books . He wrote a story in the 1800’s called the Pit and the Pendulum. It’s a catchy name, and this years challenge embodies what you might imagine when you ponder the “Pit and the Pendulum”.

And if you are interested you can learn a bit more about
Edgar Allen Poe... don’t worry the rodeo is nothing like the book. :)
